The Sun said hello to me today, and warmed my heart with Love. He looked into my eyes and said ‘Let me tell you the story of how it all began', and the world went dark.

In the beginning of time God looked out into the void and saw only One, perfection. ‘How can I come to know myself?’ he thought, if I AM already complete. He sent his Consciousness out into the void and creation was born. Slowly he took parts of himself and saw what they wanted to be. Countless stars, galaxies, planets and celestial beings all emerged from the One. All separated and settled into places they called home. God looked out at the many worlds he had created and an idea formed in his mind. 'I AM Love', he thought, 'pure Love'. 'If I take a part of me and place it in the furthest reaches of the Universe, separate it from the umbilical cord of my Love, would it be able to find its way back home? And if it does, how will it get here, and what challenges and triumphs will it experience along the way?' He chose one Galaxy, set it to spin, and watched as it spun further and further away from him.

For thousands of years he saw and heard nothing, and thought all was lost. But deep in the bounds of Space a game of separation had begun. There were those who chose to play the role of Light and those who chose the role of Dark. They knew not why they chose to play this way, only that a muted voice within them was guiding them there. For 12,000 years the people felt sad, lonely, angry, and alone. Fighting with each other for control and revenge. Then like a boomerang reaching the end of its arc, the trajectory of the Galaxy’s spin reversed, and the muted voice got louder. They came together, looked to the heavens, and saw ancient wisdom and love still written in the stars. Awakened, they celebrated, shared with each other, and never wanted this connection to end. But all too soon the trajectory reversed again, and the game of separation resumed once more.

God looked on at the way the game was played and saw what was happening. A helix of consciousness had been born, the Galaxy spiralling from Light to Dark and back again as it made its way back to him. Each time the turn of the spiral got tighter and tighter, and he could see that unbeknownst to the people below, they were heading home. Time after time he saw the people come together in groups of love, then separate to fight and blame. Some Souls wanted only Dark, some only Light, and some hovered somewhere in between. More and more players descended into the Galaxy feeling drawn to play, the game building in intensity and complexity as the centuries rolled on. At times things seemed to get out of hand and cries of despair rose up out of the darkness for help. Then the light of Consciousness would return, and all would be quiet as the people felt the presence of the One. From afar God continued to watch the Galaxy's helix moving slowly back towards him. And he saw that the cord of Love had always been there for the people to follow. Not everyone would get to see it the first time around, but the cycles were necessary for the people to understand the way the game was played and the way to return home.

The Sun turned to me and said ‘I know you have lost hope, weary from the fight. You have played the game many times and feel as if you have lost. But know that this is part of the journey home. There are no straight lines, no linear paths, but beautiful golden spirals, angelic threads, that take you where you want to go, bumping off the sides of the things that cause you pain. The times of separation are merely there to remind you of your connection to the Light. From a place of darkness, how magnificent the humble candle flame appears. From a place of anguish, how wondrous feels the light touch of kindness. You are part of the One, and as such you can never be separated from it. And when you look at the characters of others, try to see the One in them also. These are challenging times, but they are meant to be. See yourself stood atop the mountain, holding your torch aloft. There are those who will sit at a distance, happy just to see the light it gives. Some will come closer, close enough to both the see the light and feel its warmth. And others, the few, will dare to be at the mountain top with you. They are the ones who are ready to hear the stories you have to tell and inspired, to look down at their own maps to see where they need to go. They will alight their torch from yours, and head off on a bearing of their Soul’s choosing. Governed only by the desire to know themselves the way God did when he looked out into the void. Don’t let the existence of the Dark frighten you, but see it as the vast ocean of potential that it is. For within the void lies the power of all creation and you are part of that story. Hold your light aloft and watch as they come from the shadows, climb the moutain to reach you, and carry their Light into the furthest reaches of the Earth.'

When I opened my eyes, I saw the river of humanity's consciousness stretching out before me. At points the choppy waters and jagged rocks held scraps of clothing and fractures of wooden boats, a memorial to Souls lost. And at other points the waters were placid, gently rippling with the joy of a life lived in harmony with the liquid plasma of the cosmos. Looking back I could see the ghosts of my ancestors and the imprints of past lives, how the chains and the suffering had tried to wrap its icy tendrils around me and block my way home. It was then that I stepped forwards and out of my past, felt the warm fingers of the One squeeze my palm. And together we stood and watched as the first dazzling rays of the Sun rose up over the horizon, waiting for the new day to begin.
